Shenandoah Estates

Made up of more than 2,200 homes on more than five miles of streets, the community is all things Baton Rouge. There's no set demographic and no set home style to classify it into set categories.  

Founded more than 35 years ago, Shenandoah Estates is certainly well-known throughout Baton Rouge. No stranger to the public spotlight, not long ago, there was the movement by many residents to retain Shenandoah Golf Course, whose 133 acres were eventually sold for the development of Green Trails at Shenandoah.

Although the course is gone, recreation and community events are still a major player in the lives of Shenandoah Estates residents. Two BREC parks, St. Michael the Archangel High School and Shenandoah Elementary School provide quite a bit of diversity when it comes to getting out of the house. The homeowners association holds a monthly meeting every second Tuesday of the month at Jones Creek Library, an annual meeting in September and a Christmas home-decorating contest every season. But the biggest duty of the homeowners association, according to Campanell, is protecting and maintaining property value.
